Beaded artwork is an enduring tradition in Haiti, the poorest county in the Western Hemisphere. Each of these original works of art is different and symbolic of the spirituality of the Haitian people. The flags or “banners” as they are also called are ceremonial artifacts reflecting the personality and likes of a particular spirit. While often displayed hung on a wall or made into a pillow, we think they make the perfect unique evening bag to add a touch of glamour! Lark traveled to Haiti every year with her mother, a folk-art dealer, and fell in love with the Haitian people. “They are in my heart! They have taught me to find beauty in the simplest of things. And even in the most dire of situations to have faith and to find beauty… or create it!”
