The traditional brocade designs in our "Kahlo" Mexican blouses date back to the year 600 and have been used in ceremonial dress since the Classical Maya period. There is a relaxed elegance to these unique blouses. The detail and texture are exquisite ~ by far the softest linen we have ever felt!
The artisans who weave these blouses work in a cooperative in Mexico whose mission is to preserve an ancient art form and empower the 600 women and 200 men artisans to thrive as sustainable members of the global marketplace. These artist-entrepreneurs are self-employed, pay their children's school fees, support local health clinics and are leaders in their community.
*Larkin Lane will donate a portion of all sales of our "Kahlo" blouses to help rebuild the cooperative's building that was damaged in the earthquake. Thank you for your support!!
At Larkin Lane, Lark selects each textile from the artisans themselves. Your purchase helps to preserve a centuries old textile tradition and creates income for families in need. Thank you!!
